SHARK ATTACK!!! (or, what's outside my windows)

It's been quite awhile since I saw something interesting outside my window. Well, this little doozy made up for the months of no excitement!

This is how it ended:

You might be saying, "dead shark". Yep, it met it's match. You see, that guy in the right corner calling 911? He's the cause of this predicament.

Now, this is how it all started.....

Balloon man (in the black shirt- inside the shark's mouth) was apparently trying to help this poor shark out by checking his teeth) The tall guy holding the shark's nose thought he would provide some extra insurance for Balloon Man's safety by holding the creatures snout firmly.

I knew instinctively at that moment that disaster was in the air.......

Notice the guy's arms are bending slowly as the shark is inching pressure down. Balloon man is frantically hurrying to finish his inspection as he knows the danger is rising......

Then it happened..... it was inevitable. The shark broke free of the guy's grasp and swallowed up Balloon Man, the guy holding the shark's nose, and the guy that had been watching from the side line. All that was left was the strong guy in front. He called for help immediately......

This guy, who happened to formerly be a zoologist, leaned over to examine the situation and give his scientific input. The strong guy on the left said, "I'm not waiting for your scientific mumbo jumbo" and he quickly punched the shark in the nose!

"Take that you evil creature!". He moved his position to scope out the situation and see if their were any survivors...

So that is how the situation unfolded (or should I say, "deflated"). The zoologist and the strong guy were the only survivors that sad day. What is the guy doing in the picture you ask? He's calling for help to remove the other three guys from the dead shark.

I have to say that this situation was the most exciting thing that I have ever seen "outside my windows".... Don't you think?

What's Outside My Windows- Santa's not doing well at all

Maybe the sight of the crocodile eating someone gave Santa quite a scare the other day. I just don't know. He kind of looks like he is moaning, "help me" with his eyes doesn't he? Oh, it's sad.......

Right before my eyes, Santa became quite bloated and rolled over on his back. As you can see, he is staring off into space and clutching his right side. Hey, I'm not a doctor but , you know, it could be an appendicitis. That would explain a repeat attack of whatever ailment he is suffering from. I sure do hope they get Santa patched up this time. There is only 6 months left until Christmas!

What's Outside My Windows- Crocodiles in South Carolina

Not exactly the kind of Crocodile you were thinking of when you read the title, huh?

I had no idea what this was to become when I glanced out the window.

Well, I had a better idea as to what the flat green critter was to become once it was inflated.

What I didn't expect to see was an empty pair of shoes lying conveniently at it's mouth..........

What's Outside My Windows- The Christmas Edition

Hey, even Santa needs some R&R sometimes....
Pay no attention to the scratchy, gray blobs- I had to protect the innocent (that had no idea I was snapping their picture... I'm sneaky that way.)

It's not even Christmas yet and Santa appears to be exhausted. However, it may even be more serious than just sheer exhaustion....It appears that he is hooked up to life support. Don't tell any little kids that you know about this turn of events.....it could be catastrophic.

What's Outside My Windows- I used to like Mocking birds- I really did

There has been quite a disturbance in my backyard since the great squirrel/rooster war went on outside my windows the other day.

Let me tell you how it all took place.

Mama bird was sitting on the fence rail.

She was, what I call, "clicking" at me. You know, that kind of "Hey human lady, get out of my territory" kind of clicking. I even snapped this photo of her from not very far away.

Then, she flew over my head and perched on the branch- directly above my head. I fearlessly snapped this photo.

Too close for comfort I say. Don't you? "What's your problem bird woman?" I stated in an irritated voice. I was busy replanting my poor tomato seeds that the chicken manure killed (that's another story though). I shook my head and then proceeded to sit at the picnic table and plant my seeds- yet again. Anyway, I got up to put the plants in the cold frame (so no critters would get to them). I left my sickly tomato seedlings sitting on the table. It was my hope, at the time, that they would bounce back from their little sickness. What did ma bird do? She waited until I walked off and then proceeded to "flog" my tomato plants with full force. It reminded me of the squirrels getting after the roosters from yesterday.

"Hey you bird, get away from those!" I screamed. Now, up until this point, I had always had an affection for Mocking Birds. My great aunt had some that were raised on her porch in her plants. They were always kind and sweet and personable. Let's just say that this wasn't Aunt Bess's mocking birds. This bird was out to get me. She wanted to kill my tomatoes.

Now I was thinking, that not only do I have possessed squirrels in the yard, I have this ultra evil bird that was out to get me and anything I touched.

Eventually, I went inside the back door and looked back out. "What is up with that bird?" I thought.

All of the sudden, just a few feet from the table, I saw ma bird flutter to the ground with a huge worm in her mouth.

Now I knew what her problem was.

Her cute, fuzzy headed baby had fell out of a nest somewhere and I was a little too close for comfort.

....This time, I'll forgive Ma bird - she had a good reason to be freaking out.

What's Outside My Windows- The backyard war rages

.....Think of the following pictures as photos that you would see similar to those elusive pictures that Big Foot hunters and Alien chasers snap. You know, the ones where the picture is really blurry and you can't quite make out what's in it but it sure does look like what "they say they saw".

You know me, usually I see huge "blow up thingies" outside the window. This time, I saw something completely different. Hey, I didn't have to make up anything about what I saw either. This time, nature provided the comedy.

Balloon man, you have been out staged.....

Here we see three roosters that just so happened to wander in to my backyard the other day. (Squint really hard- ahhh, now you see them don't you...)

It was a warm and breezy morning. The wind was blowing through the trees. The leaves were dancing. Three rooster brothers happened to wander to foreign territory searching for goodies to eat. You know, the bug and grub kind of goodies.

"Hey bro, here is a patch of pill bugs over here next to this massive stalk of poison ivy growing up these rocks- you know, right next to where the snake lives" says the first rooster. "Are you kidding, there is a plethora of earthworms over here beside the fire ant hill" says the second rooster. The third rooster stated in a very nervous voice to his brothers, "Hey man, I don't like this place. Something is not right. It's too quiet. Do you hear clicking noises?"

All three roosters went about their business pecking and scratching around the various hazards in my yard. Little did they know, we were watching them from afar, (outside the windows, you know).

"Oh, look at the two squirrels out there with the roosters" I said quietly.

All of the sudden, a raging war took place from nowhere. The two squirrels took off in a sprint, moving so fast as to appear to be a blur. They dashed past the poison ivy and headed straight for the rooster trio. Lets just say that what happened next would have made it into one of those animal comedy video shows.

My niece screamed, "Get the camera- quick!" I wasn't fast enough.

Two roosters were "bowled over" like bowling pins. The literally jumped 2-1/2" feet into the air before tumbling down into a heap. The squirrels meticulously turned to their right simultaneously like elegant synchronized swimmers and headed back towards the roosters. Only this time, the roosters were too fast- they were running for their lives. (Hence the blurry picture).

What happened next you say? Well, the squirrels disappeared after that- so did the roosters. I didn't see hide nor hair of any of them until yesterday. I did manage to get this photo of one of the elusive synchronized squirrel duo. Squint really hard and you will see the creature with his head up in the air, sniffing for roosters.

What's Outside My Windows- The "Emergency" edition

SDC15300aaa

I heard a shriek from the laundry room. "Mom, I want to get on that!" "What?" I say as I turn around to see what's going. The picture above is what I snapped (minus the people that I edited out).

Remember the old television show called, "Emergency"? Truthfully, with three boys in the house, we have season one on DVD. (We girls watched it too) Can't you just hear, "Rampart, we need some saline!" Every illness or emergency known to man was treated with saline on that show. If life were only that simple.

Well, the fire truck only stayed around for a short while but those guys working on it sure did have fun sliding down it. Sometimes it's more fun watching grown ups playing on those things than it would be to play on it yourself!

What's Outside Mine and Scott's Windows....

I am confident in saying that, "that there is a fine shade of hot pink"

In case you are not a regular around this blog, I'll fill you in on a little information. From time to time, I see strange things outside of my windows. I like to share my little findings with the online world.

Little did I know that this morning I would awaken to the sight of a hot pink pirate ship with a green octopus on top of it. I guess no one ever imagines that would happen to them.... I wonder if the guys that work on these things are ever embarrassed when they test them out? Personally, I think that the Merry Go Round (that I have yet to get a picture of) is the funniest of all because when they deflate it, it looks like this huge UFO. Anyway, I've never thought of renting a hot pink pirate's ship. What occasion would you do that for?

Ok, I've got my funny out of the way. Below is one of the many strange things that Scott likes to send to me in my e-mail throughout the day. Normally, I'd do a "What's Outside Scott's Car Windows" post but both of these abnormal things just happened to show up on the same day and I thought that if the pink ship didn't get a chuckle from you, this guy would.....

Can't you just imagine me jumping back slightly in my chair when I opened up this email?

I almost want to give a prize to the person that guesses where this guy lives but alas, I am prize less. I will, however, dub you Most Valuable Blog Reader for the day if you guess "Old Toothie's" home town.

What's Outside My Windows.....(The "Mr.Giant" sports edition)

Giants aren't very sure of themselves so they play it safe and instead of regular baseball, they like to play "tee ball".

It's been awhile since I have seen something interesting outside my windows. On this particular day, I hit the jackpot.

It is my understanding that their may be "Giants" in these here parts. Obviously, by looking at the picture above, you can easily see that this "giant" in particular had a rather fun day playing sports. Mr. giant even got a powerful thirst when it was all over as you will see.

Should I be worried that something that has a hand this big is wondering around outside my windows?

This ball and tee is knocked over. Maybe I should be worried. The giant might have a temper.

Mr. giant is a thirsty litter bug. Enough already, I'm just going to call the authorities.....

What's Outside My Windows.... (Part 4)

Just who is this mysterious cheerleader anyway?

It's been awhile since I seen something "strange" outside my windows. I even had someone say that they were looking forward to my next installment of "What's outside my windows". I was wondering when I would see something outside my windows that was worthwhile to show everyone.

Well, CurlyFry, here you go. I looked outside this morning and what did I see? This mysterious cheerleader that chose not to show her face- is what I seen.

What can we speculate from this scene? Well, first off, she looks like an animal. Maybe even a party animal. She is probably related to Shrek Hopefully, if you haven't been living under a rock for the past few years, you know who Shrek is. There is nothing wrong with being related to an ogre. After all, princesses marry ogres.

We can also tell that she uses way too much hairspray! I mean, who has hair that stays right in place like that? Certainly not me, that is for sure.

She probably feels great patriotism for her country. Note the red, white, and blue on her shirt. We could also interpret the stars as reminiscent of the fourth of July. Hey, wait, isn't this January? What's going on? Is she confused and dazed. You know how cheerleaders can fall from those huge pyramids they do. She might have fell and hit her head......

The last thing I notice is that she has her back to me. Is she avoiding me? Doesn't she like attention? But wait....... she has a rather large object protruding from her face....could that be......a huge yellow nose? That explains it, she is self conscious. She has a big honker. Now we know. Poor thing, she shouldn't be ashamed that her nose is big (and yellow).

Maybe if I introduce myself to her, she will turn around and let me see her face. Hey, if we become friends, who knows, I might get to meet her cousin Shrek..... That would be way more cool that looking outside my windows!

What's Outside My Windows.... (Part 3)

Well folks, here it is....
Tony the Tiger Forgot to Eat Breakfast and collapsed from hunger.

I guess you have figured out what is going on by now. If not, I can probably give you a few suggestions as to just why there is a huge orange tiger lying on it's back outside my windows if I think about it hard enough.

This sight was just one of those things that makes a person stop in their tracks and think about the comical aspects of this phenomenon.

No, Clemson University's mascot was not kidnapped and tortured in the making of this blog post (or at least I don't think so).

The distressed looking fellow above didn't growl or pounce. He jiggled and jangled. Not exactly what you would be used to a tiger doing. Surely someone came along after awhile to help this helpless fellow get off of his back. I know his legs were stiff. They were sticking straight up in the air all afternoon. Maybe Tony was playing charades and was acting out being a turtle that some quick rabbit knocked off of its feet. Who knows. All I know is that he is gone now. I wonder where that huge tiger went? Probably somewhere that serves cereal for breakfast.

My hubby snapped this picture with quick thinking as I was making a chocolate run (I got a huge pack of M&M's by the way). Just so you know, his favorite college football team is Clemson University.

Speaking of Clemson University, I suppose I could tell you about the time he tortured our next door neighbor with Clemson paraphernalia. You see, being in South Carolina, most people are either Carolina Gamecock fans or Clemson University fans. Some poor, confused souls are both. There are those families that are what we call, living in a "house divided". There are also those rare few that choose to stay neutral when the subject of football is discussed (yours truly included). Well, hubby's birthday was coming up and the next door neighbor heard tell of this. The next day, well...., let just say that there was a Carolina Gamecock tag that ended up on hubby's car. And as a twisted fate would have it, hubby was to drive to Clemson, SC that same day. You know the rest.....

The Hackfields and the McCoys didn't have much on those two after that.

The war was on. Our neighbor, upon coming home from work a few days later, did not see the American Flag majestically flying in his front yard. No, he saw a huge orange flag with a paw print flying majestically in his Gamecock yard. Hubby didn't stop at that. He put a smaller flag by the walkway and a paw print sticker on his front door. Our youngest then received a new Gamecock sweatsuit a few days later.

Now, things have been kind of quiet lately. I'm wondering what will happen next between those two......

So you see folks, sometimes I see some strange things outside my windows. Whether it be practical jokes being played, or in this instance, a huge, bright orange tiger lying on it's back, things are quite interesting in my part of the world. I just have to share these strange things with someone and you are lucky enough to be just that someone.

Stay tuned for part 4 of "What's Outside My Windows". Knowing the goings on around here, it is sure to be something worthy of a good laugh.

What's Outside My Windows.... (Part 2)

I have begun to notice that when people come over to my house and are standing in the kitchen, they tend to look out my windows. That is good since I might have a few dirty dishes in the sink that I didn't want them to notice. You might even find some chocolate finger prints on the refrigerator. But these things are alright. As long as my visitors are looking outside, they will not see the things that I haven't gotten to that day.

Yesterday, I was wondering what goodies might show up next outside my windows and I didn't have to wonder very long. I actually figured that my next posting of "What's Outside My Windows", would consist of a monster, Barney the dinosaur, or even a giant evil clown. I was even prepared to show you all Melvin (you'll see Melvin one day when nothing else strange shows up). But no, as fate would have it, The Titanic was the next thing I saw outside my window. In case you have no clue as to what the Titanic was or in my case, is, I'll let you know a few facts about it.

That's what home school moms do, they spit out random facts that pertain to everyday life. (In my case, everyday life just happened to consist of the Titanic outside the window).

According to Wikipedia, the Titanic sank on April 15, 1912. Over 1,500 people perished as a result of the Titanic colliding with an iceberg 400 miles south of the New Foundland Grand Banks. Throughout history, people have marvelled over this accident and numerous books and movies have highlighted or featured the sinking of this huge luxury liner.

All of that marvelling is probably what caused a two or three story version of the Titanic to show up outside my windows. Go figure.... Somebody, somewhere, thought it was a good idea. It was, wasn't it? Not many people see something like this outside their windows. To think, I was worried that something interesting wouldn't show up outside my windows this week. Boy, was I wrong!

I might be one of the very few people that have not seen the most recent movie about the sinking of this massive ship, but, that is alright as I got to see a replica of the ship itself outside my windows! That's better I think. No one will die when this Titanic sinks. That is good.

Why, the entire family has gotten in on this fun. Hubby grabbed the camera the other day and snapped what will be part 3 of "What's outside my windows". The kids are good about allerting us as to when and where something strange shows up. As a matter of fact, something quite unusual has showed up outside my windows just today! Stay tuned to see what part 3 of "What's outside my windows" has in store......You might just learn something along the way too!

What's Outside My Windows.... (Part 1)

Welcome to what I will call a new series on this blog: What's Outside My Windows.....

Yes, I know it may seem silly at first, but let me explain. Until this morning, I had never realized that there are strange things going on all around me that others might not be seeing or experiencing. How did I realize this? While cooking last night in the oven, I had some spillover from the sauce on my baked chicken. I had forgotten about it and when I preheated the oven this morning to make delicious breakfast cookies, needless to say, the kitchen quickly filled with smoke. I opened the back door for a few minutes for the smoke to escape and I looked up and saw the sight pictured above. No, I don't live in medieval times and my neighbors are not into jousting, it's just that sometimes, there are some strange sights to be seen outside my windows. So, don't you think it is nice to look outside and see a castle majestically rising above the tree tops? I thought so too. I wanted to share this with you all out in cyber land. Who knows, maybe next week, there might be a dinosaur or some such lurking in the back yard.....

Look for other posts in the future featuring What's Outside My Windows. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this idea....he he he.....

.....By the way, the cookies turned out great and I have now cleaned the oven so not to worry......
