A Day Trip To Downtown Greenville- Part 3

Our little day trip turned out to be a very enjoyable one. Even our teenager enjoyed it! Now that's an accomplishment!

You may have noticed, that we have noticed, that downtown streets in various towns are have "themes". You know, statues of various people or things and the such. If you would like to revisit some of the "themes" that Scott has noticed outside his car windows, you can visit here or here.

Downtown Greenville has a little theme going on too. This theme is in the form of a scavenger hunt. There are 8 little mouse statuettes hidden (9 if you count the one at the start) all along the main street area. We thought we had found 6 of the 8 but we found out soon enough that there is one "fake" mouse so we only really found 5. Boo hoo. Rolly Poly girl is heartbroken that we didn't find them all which only opens up another trip downtown in our future. Thanks to the Mast General Store clerk for setting us straight in finding out that we had been tricked about one of the mice.

The mouse in the top right of this collage is the fake. I should have known that a mouse wearing a hat was a fake! Anyway, thanks to Mast General Store handing out little brochures with hints as to where these little guys are hidden, next time we will find them all. That is if no one swipes one in the mean time. I have to admit that it was fun looking for them. After all, we were walking from one end of downtown to the other so it's not like we went out of our way or anything.

Our little day trip makes me want to travel again. Maybe this winter we can slip in a few educational trips too. What am I saying? Every homeschool mom turns any trip into an educational trip! Anyway, look sharp- you never know where we will visit next- The Polecats might actually start Letterboxing again!

  1. Isn't downtown Greenville nice? We found those same mice when we picked our daughter up from college a few years ago and had some time to kill. We also loved the waterfall!
